What comes as standard; platform, pod, interior?

Do I need planning permission?

In short – YES. Please see the planning permission cheat sheet for more details.

How long does a treehouse last for?

Our treehouses are built to an extremely high standard using build methodologies and materials found in the construction of timber framed houses. If maintained they will last as long as a home. In excess of 50 years

What maintenance is required?

Same as would be required for your house.

How big or small can I make my treehouse?

A TRE3DOM treehouse uses modular design and so can be as big or small as you would like. See our pod brochure for more details.

Can my treehouse be offgrid?

Yes, they have been designed with offgrid capability. However implementing renewable energy technologies is site dependent.

How long does a Treehouse take to build?

Between 3 and 5 months dependant on the site and spec of the treehouse. Please see our build timeline as a guide.

How high off the ground can my treehouse be?

Treehouses can be built as high off the ground as you would like.

Do I need a tree?

The short answer is no. The living pod is self-contained and fully insulated. This pod sits on a raised platform that can be independent of a tree or built around/within the tree.

How much does a treehouse cost?

Our treehouses are adaptable. They are designed and built specific to your needs. This means the cost is variable depending on you and the location (or build site).

What is the cost for a 2 person treehouse?

A fully functioning treehouse with platform, pod and interior starts at £79,600 + VAT. See Treehouse brochure for what is included

What is the cost for a 4 person treehouse?

How much can I charge per night?

The market in the UK shows £150 – £350 per night depending on the specification of your treehouse and the time of year.

What kind of occupancy can I expect?

70 – 100% location and marketing dependant. We use the Canopy and Stars platform to market Orchard Rooms (TRE3DOM prototype), but there are cheaper alternatives. Orchard Rooms achieves 95% occupancy per year in Somerset.

What is the return on investment?

Is it possible to arrange a financing plan?

Is it heated? What comes ‘as standard’

Yes. underfloor heating comes as standard. For details of comes ‘as standard’ please referred to the pod brochure.

Do I need planning permission?

In most cases, if you chose a pod less than 4 metres in height, it is highly unlikely that planning permission will be required. This is very much dependent on your site location and the intended use of the pod.

Do you need foundations?

Yes, we use screw piles. If you decide to move the pod, the screw piles can be removed and no trace will be left.

How long does it take to build?

We expect the time on-site will be circa 1 month, dependant on the specification of your pod.

How much does a pod cost?

Can I design my own interior?

We work with you to design an interior bespoke to your needs.

What can I customise?

Everything is customisable, from the choice of material for the exterior cladding to the interior materials and layout.

Treehouse – What size is the bed?

That is up to you and depends on the size of the pod. See garden pod brochure for further details.

Treehouse – What is included in the bathroom and kitchen?

Standard bathroom includes – toilet, basin, shower and heated towel rail.

Standard kitchen – sink, hob and oven/grill.

Treehouse – Floorspace?

Our spaces are unique because the designs (hexagon, pentagon) provide an anomaly where the floor space is far less than the usable space. This makes them feel far larger inside than they look from the outside.

How can I use my garden pod?

Due to the modular nature of our Pods, they can be as big or small as you would like They are adaptable spaces that can be used for almost anything; garden office, yoga studio, extra bedroom, playroom, pool house – the list goes on. We work with you to design an interior bespoke to your needs.

What about services (electricity and water)?

Services up to 5m are included in the price (electric, water).

What is the waiting list? How long till you can start building?

This is dependent on our current workload. Once the initial deposit is paid, we aim to start construction in 8 weeks.

Is the build included in the quoted cost?

Yes, the design build and materials are included in the cost.

What is required on site to complete the build in terms of mechanised equipment?

The only mechanised equipment essential is a digger, used to get services to and from the pod. Treehouses and pods can be hand constructed on site if necessary. If access and the site allows we will use machinery where applicable

What sustainability/eco credentials do you have?

Each pod is highly insulated and well sealed. A mechanical ventilation heat recovery system comes as standard, to ensure that the user gets the most out of the energy used. We use a low impact build methodology and local materials where possible.
